Teamm8 x Gali Brief - Giba-Duran (Earth)

Exciting collaboration with Aboriginal owned and operated Gali Swimwear features Underwear in prints that proudly celebrates our First Nations culture. These artworks are created by Worimi-Biripi artist, Jake Simon, who draws inspiration from his childhood and lands of the Worimi Aboriginal people.

This square cut Underwear Brief is constructed with all day comfort in mind with its bamboo fabrication and anchored by a solid black waistband with subtle logo detail and collaboration patch on the back.

Giba Duran (“Rock Shells”)

Inspired by the artist's childhood memories, this artwork is associated with the land and sea of the Worimi Aboriginal people on the east-coast of Australia. 

“I remember growing up on oyster farms and the grounds would be scattered with oyster shells. The shell remains are of feasting areas [middens] hidden by the changing sand dunes around my country.”

Oysters (rock shells) have been a source of food for Aboriginal peoples for thousands of years, with middens dating back to 6,000 BC. 

The artwork’s overlapping circles are a motif for oyster shells buried in these hot coastal sands. The ochre colour palette uses warm yellow to deep browns, colours that appear as the sand dunes shift in shape as they’re molded by the changing conditions of the wind and sea. These natural colours pay both homage to oysters as a native species, and to the individual flavour profile of each oyster, which they draw from their environment.
